Two years anniversary of Charles Pachter’s Museum
By Zolen Georgievska – The Canadian National News / The EUROPEAN Club of Canada
Charles Pachter is internationally renowned Canadian multidimensional artist known for his unique and playful interpretations of Canadian themes and symbols. Charles is painter, print maker, sculptor, designer, historian, and lecturer born in Toronto. His images of the Canadian Flag, Queen, Moose, barns, butter tarts, Toronto streetcars became icons of Canadian contemporary art. His murals of Hochey Knights in Canada enhance Toronto’s College Subway Station. Pachter’s steel and granite moose can be seen in many parts of Canada.
Asked about his first experiences, Charles said that he first time started drawing at the age of 3 and when he began to read soon after he discovered that words could spark images in his head. Pictures and words looked good together. His experience was similar to that of many visual artists, composers and writers. Each of us created Canada that is unique based on our life experiences, where we happen to live, who our friends are. I have always been fascinated by what defines Canada: our history, writers, wildlife, symbols and diversity.
Charles’s most ambitious project was a three-story addition to his existing home and studio in downtown Toronto at 22 Grange Avenue. .
I asked Charles is he satisfied on the success and purpose of CP Museum?
“Yes I am pleased with the events that took place at the CP Museum since opening such as several birthday parties of well known people in the arts book launches, magazine parties, fundraisers, etc…
“I consider Museum to be a modest, but significant gesture and an addition to Toronto’s cultural institutions. I hope it sets an example for imaginative restoration of smaller buildings in the heart of the city”, said Charles
If you want to meet a true Canadian living legend, you should plan to visit his Museum. It is open by appointment and group tours can be arranged. I am sharing my photos from The Design Toronto’s inaugural event in the new CP Museum, followed by retrospective exhibition at the Alliance Francaise, in celebration of the artists 60 years career.
