Canadian Delegation from Toronto observes new path of growth in Nur-Sultan

After my visit , I am in a better position to understand the various parts of this special Kazakh model which is quite applicable on a Global Scale and I am convinced will bring tangible results in ensuring Peace, Progress and Well-being of citizens in many countries. I fully expect that the International respect Kazakhstan enjoys now will increase greatly when other nations begin to recognize the importance of Kazakhstan’s contribution to regional and world stability - Tony Ruprecht.

President Tokayev – State of the Nation Address, Kazakhstan 2021

By Dr Tony Ruprecht – UCC News – Special to Polonez News Canada

I had the good fortune to visit Kazakhstan at the time of President Tokayev’s State of the Nation Address and discussed public policy issues with private and public officials. I am, therefore, well placed to comment on his address from a Canadian perspective.

I am convinced that the foundation laid by Kazakhstan’s first President Nursultan Nazarbayev is now being used to construct an edifice of government that reflects the aspirations of the people of Kazakhstan.  It is clear that in his State of the Nation Address he is guiding the ship of state toward a modern society; toward future Prosperity and Peace.

We can see this desire to modernize in various initiatives.  Initiatives such as developing a Biosafety Forecasting system and attracting up-to-date Medical Technologies in cooperation with renowned Pharmaceutical companies; building 1000 new schools by 2025 and training 100,000 I.T. specialists in order for Kazakhstan to become the Digital Hub for Eurasia; and updating the Political System by direct regional elections of district mayors.

But, what I find of particular interest is that these initiatives point to the development of an overarching design to create a Kazakh model where every Citizen receives a solid education and opportunity to participate fully in the economic, social, cultural and political arena of the Nation and can easily move into the future of a new digital world.

What is really special however is that these policies of the Kazakh model are designed to bring out the very best in Kazakh citizens – Mutual Respect, Fairness and Tolerance .This goal became obvious when meeting Mr. Bulat Sarsenbayev – Chairman of the Board of the Nursultan Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Intercivilizational Dialogue at the Palace of Peace.
