CANADIAN VISIT OF NEW UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT

Newly elected Ukrainian president Mr. Volodymyr Zelensky has recently arrived to Canada on three day official visit. In Ottawa he met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Foreign Minister Christia Freeland to discuss issues of expanded economic co-operation and Canadian assistance in certain logistic and operational issues and procedures.

While in Toronto, President Zelensky gave a keynote speech to the Economic Club of Canada at The Royal York Hotel  to a large  and attentive audience of Ukrainian-Canadians and Canadian business people, while Ukrainian-Canadian Congress presented a lively seminar-discussion on nature of democracy in Ukraine. and prospects of sustainable investments for Canadian business..

     Especially interesting was a paper ”Ukraine on the front line of societal resilience” prepared by UK’s Royal Institute of International Affairs. Also noteworthy were pieces of information on status of research projects of Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Alberta.

For all the participants this was an excellent opportunity for Canadians  to learn about  rich heritage and promising prospects of Ukraine as one of the key countries in  strategic region of Eastern Europe.
